Derived from the Portuguese word "bailhadera," the name "Bayadere" pays homage to the revered Devadasi, the female dancers from India adorned in vibrant, striped costumes. In European terminology, Bayadera's were chosen women who wedded deities and graced temples with their enchanting dances.
