News from Munich High End Show 2025

The High End Munich 2025 show delivered plenty of excitement, innovation, and eye-catching gear—as expected from the world’s leading hi-fi expo. With new product reveals from some of the biggest names in audio, this year’s event provided us a glimpse into the future of high-end listening. From Chord Electronics’ striking new phono stage, Vertere Acoustics’upgraded DG-X Dynamic Grooveturntable to Fyne Audio’s refreshed F500S series loudspeakers, Auralic’s sleek Aquila X3 streamer, and Totem Acoustics’ elegant Tribe Thunderbird floorstanders, there was no shortage of fresh technology and design to get excited about. Here’s a quick look at a few standout highlights from the show.

Chord Electronics

Chord Electronics has unveiled its groundbreaking Ultima Phonostage, which is set to launch later this year. It features an advanced dual mono design and is compatible with both moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges. The unit offers selectable impedance (47k with capacitance options for MM cartridges; 12 ohm to 2200 ohm for MC cartridges), gain adjustments, and individually assignable inputs, allowing for use with up to three turntables or three tonearms. The device includes three XLR inputs and three RCA inputs, each with a corresponding output. Unique features comprise a rumble-sensing filter, auto gain matching over 20 levels, and clip detection.

We note the high-quality reference-level build and the striking VU meters on the front, which give it a futuristically retro appearance. Pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed, but we are happy to accept advance orders now!

Vertere Acoustics

On display in the Vertere Acoustics room was the newly upgraded DG X Dynamic Groove turntable. This entry-level model was showcased in a stunning new candy apple gloss red finish and features a range of enhancements over previous models, including a new main bearing, motor drive, suspension, Groove Runner X Tonearm, as well as optimised internal wiring and connections. It is designed to deliver the richest detail for every note.

Fyne Audio

F500S – The Successor of the F500 Best-Seller Series

Alongside the launch of the flagship F704SP model, Fyne Audio also unveils the F500S Series– a complete refresh of its best-selling F500 Series. Previewed earlier this year in the UK, the new lineup provides sonic enhancements, improved aesthetics, and greater versatility across five models, including stand-mount, floor-standing, and adaptable LCR options.

At the heart of each model lies the newly updated IsoFlare™ driver, which features a vented neodymium HF magnet and a precision-engineered magnesium diaphragm for exceptional treble clarity. Enhancements to the waveguide geometry deliver improved off-axis response and an even more immersive stereo imaging experience.

The BassTrax ™ porting system is featured on all models except the LCR, ensuring uniform energy dispersion and delivering smooth in-room bass. The LCR model, however, incorporates a damped Auxiliary Bass Radiator for flexible mounting. Available in a selection of real wood veneers and piano gloss finishes, the F500S Series epitomises high-end sound and design in an accessible package.

Fyne's F500S series is coming soon to The Real Music Company! Find out more about the series at the Fyne Audio website.

Auralic

The other notable news from Munich was a glimpse of the new Auralic Aquila X3, a two-box streaming transport in its working form, accompanied by a selection of optional finishes. Boasting a large, “easy-to-read from a distance” touch screen, it seems set to elevate Auralic's streaming profile to an even higher benchmark.

Totem Acoustic

Canada’s Totem Acoustic featured their newest model, Tribe Tower Thunderbird. These tall and sleek floorstanders feature Totem’s universally-acclaimed Torrent Technology with a brand new 6” mid-bass driver that required over three years of R&D to perfect.

The obelisk-like shape, which symbolises power and eternity, allows for uncomplicated placement in any living space, resulting in accurate staging and precise spatial capabilities regardless of where the speakers are placed, a characteristic that the Totem brand is known for. Vince Bruzzese, President and CEO of Totem Acoustic, demonstrated the Thunderbird’s relaxed, highly articulate and immersive vocal presentation.
